The design of Anju is a careful dance between the industrial history of the building it occupies and traditional Korean design. Working with a limited budget, we used a “freestyle” approach to design, selecting found or reclaimed materials consequentially as the project progressed. Based loosely on an outdoor Asian market, our intention was to create a human experience that is welcoming in its simplicity and intriguing in its experiential balance.
